A pit master 40 years in the making, Mark has sharpened steel alongside some of Milwaukee's biggest names. Catch him out of the kitchen and he’ll explain that there are three elements necessary to make the best barbecue: good meat, a proper fire, and a devotion to detail.








Two years ago, Mark laid out his business plan: barbecue so good that people will drive 18 miles in 100 degree weather down a dirt road, just to try it. Though  Greenfield Avenue happens to be a two lane thoroughfare just outside downtown Milwaukee, the proof remains in the pork.

What you can expect: friendly faces, and some serious barbecue. What we do is practiced, perfected and best enjoyed elbows-up alongside family and friends.

Warm Words


  • Sure, you can get the usual (and excellent) ribs, pork, and brisket at Double B's. But why not go for something that isn't typically smoked, like chicken wings? The smoking process lends enough flavor to render sauce unnecessary, and leaves the meat sticky with rendered chicken fat (that's a great thing, promise). Wash these bad boys down with cocktails made from house-infused bourbon -- preferably on the large, hidden patio.
  • This is hands down the best BBQ joint in the Milwaukee area. As soon as we walked in the smell was awesome. Owner was very friendly even took me out back to show off his smoker when I inquired about his process. The food was off the hook. Get there early if you want baby back ribs, they do run out. The brisket was the best I've had. The sauces were delicious especially the XXX which is not as spicy as you might suspect with it being labeled XXX. My wife & I both loved it & for the record we are both KCBS certified BBQ judges.

  • No matter what barbecue you order here, it’s going to be bursting with deep smoke flavor. This is not barbecue that’s braised first and then thrown in the smoker for an hour. The smoke practically wafts from the plate to your nose.

  • Just had the best bbq ever here, quick and unbelievably amazing!

  • Great bar and awesome BBQ. This is THE REAL DEAL. I don't take BBQ lightly since I cook in competition and whenever I travel I try to find the best in the area.  This place is definitely 5 stars and a great value.

  • Outstanding food! Had the 1/2 chicken and was amazed at how much smoke penetrated the meat. Even the beans were smoky! The blue cheese dressing for the wings was really chunky and not watered down. You can tell that the cooks and owners put a lot of love and time into their food and every aspect of the dining experience. A gem in West Allis!

  • Had a fantastic meal at Double B's tonight. The pulled pork was wonderful. Best BBQ we have ever had in Milwaukee. My husband grew up in Kansas City and we have found nothing to compare to KC BBQ in 35 years until now. This food is delicious!!!!

  • Awesome BBQ ribs and brisket, nothing less then perfection along with the wings. If you are in the mood for ribs, do yourself a favor and give this little jewel of a place a try.

  • Some of the best BBQ I've found since moving from Georgia to Wisconsin. Being from the south I know my BBQ but their brisket is awesome. Atmosphere is cosy and a bit small but the staff is friendly and helpful all 3 times I have been here. Go on your birthday week and spin the wheel for free prizes as well.

  • The food....oh my, the food! Fair price for a great meal and cozy atmosphere. After our first visit, this place was immediately put into our date night rotation. If you haven't been, please check this place out for some amazing BBQ! It will not disappoint.

  • I've had Bar B-Que all throughout the South and Midwest including Kansas City. Surprisingly, the best is in my backyard. I had the smoked brisket while my wife had the smoked brisket sandwich. Superb! The right amount of smoke aligned with a variety of seasonings that continually added to the complex taste of this brisket. The side sauces were also wonderful but not needed. The meat itself was very tender. Sweet potato fries were excellent. Finished up with chocolate mouse and and a full tummy. This small Bar and Bar B Que gets it right. Can't wait to go back and try the patio dining for the full effect. I highly recommend this establishment.

  • We live in the area and frequent Double B's a lot. We have tried just about everything and have NEVER had a bad meal or experience. Two of our daughters, 3yrs. & 7yrs, LOVE the chicken wings. Great atmosphere great food.

  • BEST CORNBREAD, if you take nothing else from this review, know that Double B's has absolutely amazing CORNBREAD, the best! I attended an event here on Monday. The food was fantastic. Macaroni and cheese, delicious - it's the kind of cheesy that has strands of cheese hanging off the spoon as you're helping yourself to a generous portion. Pulled pork, short ribs, wings and brisket were all available. My favorite was the brisket with Carolina sauce. Also loved the bacon balls!
    The owners were there and so nice! They really take pride in their work and it shows. The place isn't very large so it gives off a nice intimate feeling but not in the sense that you would only go there on a date. It's perfect for catching up with friends, family or a date 🙂

  • The rib was one of the best I've had in ages, pulled pork was tender, the corn bread WAS ON POINT (so moist, no butter needed!), and all the sides were solid. The atmosphere is friendly and homey, and all the staff were enthusiastic and clearly passionate about what they're presenting. ... As a gal from Missouri, I take my BBQ seriously, and have an emotional attachment to it the way Sconnies love their fish fry. I felt right at home here and am really looking forward to sharing this place with others! Way to go, Double B's!

  • This is some legit BBQ! Got the ribs...Best.Ribs.In.MKE! The smoky flavor can't be beat! The mac n cheese was very tasty too! 

  • The lovely couple who owns the place have a real passion for BBQ and are making sure to crank out quality pulled pork, brisket, mac n cheese, corn bread and more at this cozy little spot. Seriously, I don't even like cornbread normally, but this was that perfect mix of sweet and not too crumbly.

  • Outstanding service, brisket was cooked perfectly, baked beans excellent and the homemade sauces were outstanding. If you have not been there, go. You won't be disappointed.

  • Everything ordered was out of this world good.  We all ordered something different and had try each others. The corn bread was fantastic.  The old fashions are the best. The service was exceptional! The bill was under $100, so surprising for everything we had ordered.  One of the best foodie places in West Allis!  Will be back again in the very near future.
